Unveiling the History of Ceramic Coating

General

Australia has one of the highest ultraviolet indexes in the world that can immensely affect the car paints and damage their exterior. There are many protection film, ceramic coating and clear bra. But do you know where it all started and how ceramic coating and protection film came into being?

Let's discuss the great invention of the best paint protection coating and its up-gradation.

Unveiling the History of Ceramic Coating

Let's begin with 1800 in Germany when the first-ever wax was invented from animal's fat. The wax was utilised on the lacquer of horse carriages. And obviously, this was the first time someone thought of protecting a painted surface. Interesting, right!

In 1806, Karl Benz created a history. He brought a new brand for automobiles that we know today as Mercedes Benz. With new automobiles floating in the market, the requirement for automobile accessories increased.

After a few decades, in 1910, George Simsons developed the Carnauba Wax product for car paint protection. It protected car paint from scratches and brought instant gloss and shine to the car's surface. However, as modern, as it seemed that time, it only worked until the next car wash.

Interestingly in 1920, car surface wax took a different turn. 3M got introduced to the market. It invented the first-ever waterproof sandpaper that revolutionized the game in 1925. 3M developed masking tapes that enabled auto detailers to get a sharp 2 tone paint job.

In 1930, Ben Hirsch invented the legendary liquid auto polish in his bathtub. It took the world by surprise for its precision and paint protection commitment.

Following the same, Ben Hirsch bought Plastone into the world in 1944. It was the first premium car polish that was produced in Chicago, Illinois. Two years down the line, in 1946, Plastone was renamed Turtle Wax considering its hard shell finish.

After the invention of Plastone wax, there were many developments in the auto detailing industry, for example, 1970 gave us the first Polymer Sealant by Dupont. In the same year, the world was introduced to metallic-based paints that had a clear coat. It was used and invented by Europe and Japan. The clear coating produced a beautiful gloss, shine, and hardness to maintain the paint colours for years to follow.

Around 1979, The Twin Head Orbitor Polish which was used on air carriers was now being used on the car surfaces. The polish was revealed to be an excellent paint corrector and was accepted worldwide.

Jumping in the 1980s, fortunately, the world was introduced to Detailing Clay by the Japanese. The Detailing Clay worked well for the pre-cleaning process for better paint protection. It was later that it was noticed by the U.S.A, approximately in the 90s.

Taking a jump directly to 2007, clear paint sealants were invented. They are Nanotechnology polymer coatings that are great for protecting the paint from fading and ultraviolet sun rays.

Three years down the line in 2010, Ceramic coating entered the Automobile industry.

Years later, in 2018, Diamond Plate introduced a Ceramic 9h coating came into the world. It offered deep shining, high gloss with great protection and hardness with 9h clear coating. It brilliantly protected detailing from heating, oxidation, harmful UV rays, moisture and bird droppings. It comes with a 7-year warranty assuring hardness and long-lasting shine and gloss.

The history of Ceramic coating and car paint protection has been extensively innovational and addictive. With the introduction of protective wax to ceramic coating, automobile enthusiasts have loved every bit of it.

We hope you enjoyed reading the history of the paint protection journey starting from the 1800s to 2020!

A little more information on Ceramic coating: Ceramic coating is a paint protection coating for automobiles that ensures your vehicle is secure from environmental damages. It should be applied to your vehicle's surface as soon as it comes out of the showroom. Your new car's surface will start losing its shine and gloss within 30 minutes of its interaction with the Sun rays.
